Farewell Fair-Weather

Recently, I’ve developed an almost obsessive interest in the Law of attraction, Numerology, etc. Months ago, I got an email “warning” me of an impending pinnacle period in my life. And here comes the selling point : “I would miss out on life changing opportunities”, if I didn’t get in touch soon. It warned of upheavals, changes, and transformation. Stirred my curiosity, no doubt.  The email did cause me to reflect on the path my life had taken.

Over the past several years, I’ve had my share of fair-weather relationships and friendships. Nothing new here.  Untold numbers of upheavals and changes, gives new meaning to the term. A friend once told me : “Juan, you compartmentalize things”. Maybe so. I paid no attention to it at the time, however, it’s come to pass. Today, the older I get, the less I have time for drama, flaky friends, and the like.

Fortunately, when the storms come, you truly learn who your real friends are. I no longer moan the people who chose to leave. I know, like you do, people will come into your life for all sorts of reasons. Some will teach us lessons. Others to give us experience. The ones who stay, are the ones to cherish. Life goes on. Its meant to be spent with the people who have shown time and again, they belong in your life.

I also know, now, more than ever,  NO ONE, except Heavenly Father,  can love you unconditionally. Despite many failings, he forgives and waits. Arms open for us to come back to him. Always loving and merciful. I am very grateful for the thousands of people I have crossed paths with. From the beautiful shores of my birth country SVG, to the land of freedom and opportunity of America, and now to the UK.

I have learned the meaning and depth of this quote : “God sometimes removes a person from your life for your protection. Don’t run after them”. I pray that God will bless me with the strength to remember this when I am tempted to act otherwise.

Until the next post,
